CRAIG MORTON (QB, Cowboys, Giants and Broncos 1965-82) serves as major-gift officer for his alma mater, the University of California- Berkeley. He lives in San Rafael. Calif., and has two children. Morton rewrote the passing record book at UC Berkeley and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. "As a pro, my greatest achievement was leading the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl and then leading Denver to its first Super Bowl;' Morton said. "Unfortunately we lost both games." Morton passed for 27,908 yards and 183 touchdowns during his 18-year NFL career.
In 1977, his first year is a Bronco, Morton was named AFC Player of the Year. That season was also responsible for his favorite football memory. "I was in the hospital all week with a bruised hip and didn't practice leading up to the AFC Championship Game against the Raiders," said Morton. "I didn't think I could play because I couldn't even walk. Coach Red Miller asked if I could play. I told him if he would tic my shoes I would play." Morton went on to throw for I 224 yards and two touchdowns. Denver won 20-17 and carried the franchise's first trip to the Super Bowl. "It was the most emotional game I ever played," Morton said. "I stood in the doorway of the old locker room watching fans tear down the goalposts and just cried my eyes out:'
FLOYD LITTLE (RB, Broncos 1967-75) retired as the Bronco's all-time leader in rush attempts (1,641), yards (6,323) and total touchdowns (52). He held those records for more than 30 years before Terrell Davis surpassed them. "I identified with Terrell's style of play, how hard he ran;' little said.”Clinton Portis also has the same running style as me, but I did a lot of ' blocking and pass protecting." Nicknamed "the Franchise;' Little became the first Bronco to lead the NFL in rushing (1,133 yards in 1971). He usually won his individual battles, but Little remembers having tough games against Steelers and Chiefs, defenders. "I respected (Jack) Ham, (Jack) Lambert and (Andy) Russell;' said Little, "but Willie Lanier was my toughest adversary. He was a fierce competitor and very physical. Willie was always assigned to me and he would keep tire under 100 yards." During his nine-year career, little amassed 12,103 all-purpose yards, including a team record 2.523 on kickoff returns. He played in live straight All-Star games or Pro Bowls (1968-73) and retired among the top-10 rushers in NFL history. "My favorite memory is my last game at Mile High Stadium," said little. "I scored a 69-yard touchdown and we won the game against Philadelphia. Bill Bergey and Harold Carmichael congratulated me and carried me off the field I remember looking at the two-minute warning and my whole career flashed before my eyes. My emotions came out." Today, little is president/owner of Pacific Coast Ford. He and his wife Deborah live in Federal Way, Wash. A member of the Broncos Ring of Fame, Little has three adult children and one grandchild.
